The Fire Explorer must be familiar with all rules and regualtions of the program.
- All members are expected to participate in program functions.
- All members are to follow the directions of the advisors and follow the
chain of command within the program and the department.
- All participants are expected to maintain a “C” grade or better
in EACH SUBJECT in school.
- Any suspension or disciplinary action from school will result in suspension
or reprimand from the Fire Explorer program and/or it’s activities.
- At NO time is there any permission given for a member to leave school for
fire calls or any emergency. Any member who has been given an early release
from school should bring a written letter from parent or guardian stating
permission to participate. Skipping school using the fire department as an
excuse will result in immediate termination from the program.
- At the parent or guardian’s request a member may be terminated at
any time.
- At the discretion of the chief or advisor any member may be temporarily
suspended or terminated for any reason deemed enough for such action.
- No member may be at the station without an advisor present, unless a member
has written consent from an advisor .
- No profanity will be tolerated.
- If a member at any time is not conforming to the rules, and regulations
and is asked to leave, the member will be considered under suspension until
the incident is reviewed.
- No member is to attend Trenton Fire Department training unless it is a scheduled
training class for the Fire Explorer youth program or otherwise approved
by the department training officer and/or program advisor.
- No horseplay or inappropriate behavior will be acceptable while attending
any program function.
- Sexual harassment will NOT be tolerated at ANY TIME. Failure to comply
with this rule will result in immediate termination.
- No weapons of any type are allowed at the fire station or while attending
any program function. Failure to comply with this rule will result in immediate
termination.
- No alcohol, tobacco, or controlled substance is permitted. Any member who
has been determined to have said substances on or in their person will be
terminated immediately.
- Any area or equipment used will be cleaned.
- Members may not ride department apparatus unless under supervised training
or during parades with written consent from an advisor.
- No items may be removed from the station.
- Any member who is being investigated or under suspicion by any law enforcement
agency will be placed on full suspension until a review can be made.
- Program advisors will review members to be elected to the rank of officer.
After review the members will elect their officers with simple majority approval.
Any tie will be broken by the vote of the advisors.
- Female participants are welcome, but in order to participate there must
be a female advisor or parent/guardian present at all times.
These rules and regulations are subject to change or be amended at any time.
Responding to calls: (Applies to Level 2 and 3 members with advisors
approval)
A) Parents orders/wishes override all responses.
B) No activities after 2200 hrs. (10:00 p.m.) on school nights.
C) City curfew (2300 hrs. (11:00 p.m.) during other times.
(school breaks, weekends).
D) At no time is any member allowed to enter any environment
that requires an SCBA or that an advisor deems unsafe.
E) Any response to a call does not constitute permission to
drive in ANY illegal manner. Observe all speed limits, stop signs/lights and
traffic laws.
F) No member is permitted to use any emergency vehicle signal
devices. (color lights, sirens/sounds, wig-wags, hazards, brights)
